Life@ISTTM 1. Students to Excel@ISTTM In order to make students excel in all ways possible, ISTTM developed many programmes. The two core programmes are: 1. Entrepreneur Development programme Do you want to become a job creator for many people??..then this programme is quite useful for such students.. This course is to inspire students to explore the opportunities of becoming entrepreneurs and to kindle creativity among students to compete with others in the globalised world. This programme is conducted by eminent people who have done their post graduation from IIM's and have nearly 40 years of experience. Objectives :
2. Communication Development Programme Do you want to excel yourself in communication skills??..then this programme is quite effective for you.. Communication skills of a student plays a vital role in deciding the career of the student. Corporates prefer students who possess outstanding communication and soft skills. As the companies expect B-school students to be possessed with soft skills, it is necessary to have strong communication and soft skills for the students before they enter into the corporate world. 2. Life beyond academics 1. Student council Objectives:
Council members (2011):
2. Events At ISTTM, many events are celebrated by students and faculty all together. Objectives: The objectives of conducting events @ ISTTM are:
1. Annual Day Annual day of ISTTM was celebrated on August 6th at a resort (Songs of Earth). It was the first anniversary of ISTTM. Event started with cake cut by our Chairperson followed by speeches of our Executive Director, Mr. Suresh Naik and faculty. Later on, electrifying performances (includes dance, singing and skits) were given by juniors. Delicious dishes were offered for the lunch. After lunch, swimming & rain dance, some adventure games were played. All of us enjoyed well. Finally, there was a prize distribution followed by vote of thanks. 2. Independence Day We (Students of ISTTM) have conducted flag hosting on August 15th i.e 65th INDEPENDENCE DAY to pay homage to our National Leaders and Freedom Fighters. 3. Candle Rally We (Students of ISTTM) organized a Candle Rally to support Anna Hazare's "Movement Against Corruption". We supported him by walking and shouting slogans in hi-tech city by holding candles. His struggle against corruption was a gentle reminder of Mahatma Gandhi's Satyagraha. His fast-unto death, the five days fast has shown the world, what Gandhism means in today's world. The power of Gandhiji's non-violence will never cease to exist in the ages to come. We did this event to show that youth is responsible to change our society. We supported him to show our social responsibility. 4. Glitz (feel gifted) Sometimes we try to help others but ends up receiving it from others. We had the same experience with the event "Glitz". We (students of ISTTM) started our first charity event for HIV affected children of Desire society, Hyderabad. We saw the children having lots of fun even though they won't have it for long time. From this we decided to show how gifted we are with good health but we take every problem seriously and end in losing the gift we get. This……. gave birth to the name "Glitz, feel gifted". We were in a situation to depend on our thoughts as we were doing this for the first time in ISTTM (Unlike college events where we get guidance from seniors who did it). We got money for the event by selling event tickets and T-shirts from a T-shirt mela, which was for Diwali by the name "Diwali sehari". Everything was set for the event and the children were excited to show their talent. We got an opportunity to see a Telugu film actor Ramesh (well known as "Taagubothu Ramesh") who was invited as a guest. He shared few incidents of his life. We remembered situations in our life where we felt very depressed to fight against them and we were observing the children who don't bother about the problem they have and were enjoying every moment they have. We had a fashion show of children with "super heroes" theme (aren't they real super heroes?).Children and Some of our college students too showed their dancing skills on the floor. Director of Desired Society explained about the organization. We thought –"Children don't ask the management about the money they get from donations and events. Instead, they need someone to make them laugh, dance and share their dreams." We were there to make all those to happen in Glitz. Our director was surprised by the way we organized the event and the outcome of it. He promised to make it bigger next time.
We saw someone (children of Desired Society) doing same thing as said by Mother Teresa in Glitz and reminded us to feel gifted always. 5. Perfrour Dia (Fresher's Party) In every college, seniors welcome their juniors by a fresher's party. Even in our college the same tradition was followed. Perfrour Dia was the name given for our fresher's party. It was celebrated on 6th Dec, at a resort, Darling cave. Our Managing Director's birthday was also on the same day. On the occasion of his birthday, the party started with a cake cut. Later on, it continued with a few speeches. Students as well as faculty actively participated in all games and activities conducted. A cricket match between students and Management was organized. We had lots of fun by watching mesmerizing performances (dances, songs and skit) given by students. 6. Festivals Almost all festivals are celebrated at ISTTM by students and faculty. Sankranti, Christmas, Ugadi etc are celebrated without any religious concern. This shows ISTTM does not show any religious discrimination in celebrating any festival. In all celebrations, everyone participates and enjoys. This shows the unity of ISTTM (students and faculty). 7. World Telecommunication Day World telecommunication day is celebrated on May 17th. This is celebrated to mark the signing of international telegraph convention and the formation of ITU. Being a telecom B-school, we also celebrated the day to create awareness about telecom among people by organizing a few events (media events and quiz). |
