Pedagogy

ISTTM believes in holistic education, which develops the overall personality of the students and more importantly makes them employment ready. The emphasis in ISTTM is on the application and practice of the knowledge learnt in the class room. At ISTTM, the shaping of future managers is done through:

Lectures

Lecture by faculty members give necessary inputs to the students. The lecture is delivered making use of the latest audio visual teaching aids like LCD projection systems, whiteboards.

Guest Lectures

ISTTM strives to improve the quality of education by extensive industry interface, practicing the 3-I concept (Industry-Institute- Interface). Regular weekly guest lectures from industry leaders/experts in different areas are arranged to provide valuable insights into contemporary business and industrial practices.

Role-Playing & Simulation

Role-playing gives students a chance to live the roles and practice the concepts beforehand. Business simulation games simulate the real business world environment.

Internship Programme

After completing 14 months of the programme(three semesters), students are required to undertake full time internships in the industry for 24 weeks (6 months). This training helps students to have first hand experience of the industry practices. It makes them aware of current industry trends and necessary skills required to progress in today's professional environment. Further it also helps the employers in accessing the quality of the students before being offered full time jobs.

Training by Industry Partners

ISTTM uses a unique outsourcing model of training, through which industry partners like BSNL, ZTE, Huawei are involved in training and certifying students in telecom specialized modules, so that the students get to learn the required business knowledge from the practitioners itself.

Projects & Assignments

Projects and assignments form an integral part of the curriculum. Projects are identified based on industrial needs for the student to select from. Guidance to work on the project is provided by the course instructor.

Case-Studies/Discussion

This method of teaching is employed to develop the mental ability of each student and encourage him or her to ensure they understand as to how the theory learnt applies in real life managerial situations. A fair opportunity is given to each student to develop his/her problemsolving and presentation skills.

Seminars & Workshops

Learning through seminars, workshops and conferences encourages professional discussions between students and practicing managers.

Managerial Grooming

Personality Development

To ensure students fitment in the global corporate culture, the Institute lays special emphasis on personality grooming through presentations, public speaking, mock interviews, aptitude tests and industry interactions. This helps the students to develop capacity for analysis and judgment, ability to relate to managerial problems and draw upon their own resources for better understanding and meaningful action. Students, therefore, are groomed to join the industry not as a mere Job earner, but to influence its practices, and in the long run become an active participant in reshaping the Telecom Industry future. To facilitate the process, the Institute provides for a mentoring programme and also organizes a range of activities throughout the year under its various cells and clubs.

Mentoring and Counseling

It aims to provide professional advice and information to all students to smoothen their entry to the corporate world. It offers personalized counseling to students. About 6 students get attached to each faculty member and senior professionals from industry who acts as their mentor and counselor throughout the duration of the program.

Academic Clubs

The students of the Institute have set up clubs to encourage debates as well as dissemination of latest development and practices in their specialized areas of interest. These groups are Telecom Service Provider (TSP) Club, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) Club, Internet Service Providers (ISP) Club, Value Added Services (VAS) Club, Infra & Engineering services (IES) Club and IT & Software (ITS) club. These clubs keep the students updated with the business & technology knowledge and promote entrepreneurial ideas in their respective domains.

Sports Club

To promote students' interest in game and sports, the sports committee organizes sports meet once a year and different matches and tournaments are held throughout the year. The campus has facilities for in door and outdoor sports TT, carom, volleyball, cricket and football.

Toast Masters Club

TMC is an initiative of the students to get together, practice and promote entrepreneurship in campus.
